ABOUT THE NEWSROOM

Pacific Grove first. Sources in the open.

MyPG.news is an independent local publication focused on the decisions, services, hazards, businesses, schools, people and coast that materially affect Pacific Grove.

OUR PURPOSE

Make useful local reporting easy to verify.

The live feed is intentionally selective. A report belongs on MyPG.news when it has a concrete Pacific Grove impact, not merely because it happened somewhere in the region.

Permanent story links retain each report after the 88-hour live window. Direct records and credited reporting remain attached so readers can inspect the evidence and understand what is official, proposed, alleged, observed or still unverified.

EDITORIAL STANDARDS

Six rules behind every desk.

01

Local impact first

Items must materially affect Pacific Grove residents, travel, services, schools, businesses, government, safety or the coast.

02

Primary records preferred

City documents, agency notices, official data and firsthand organizational sources are linked whenever available.

03

Labels carry meaning

Proposals are not adopted actions. Allegations are not convictions. Recording analysis is not approved minutes.

04

Social posts are leads

Resident posts can surface a story, but consequential claims require independent corroboration before publication.

05

Credit stays attached

Original reporters, photographers and organizations remain named. Exclusive observations are not recast as MyPG.news reporting.

06

Changes remain visible

Developing reports are updated when stronger records appear, and expired live items move to the archive instead of disappearing.

HOW THE WIRE WORKS

Automation watches. Sources decide what can be said.

Automated tools help monitor public feeds, calendars, records and changes. They do not turn an unverified claim into a fact. Published summaries are tied to named sources and review timestamps.

Reader voting, comments and audience measurements are separate systems. View analytics retain daily aggregate routes and broad referral categories—not personal browsing histories.
