Monterey-Salinas Transit says construction for the SURF! Busway project is temporarily rerouting Monterey Bay Coastal Trail users to the new Beach Range Road multiuse trail extension. A temporary connector links back to the coastal trail near Highway 1; people approaching from Sand City should use the trail access at the western end of Playa Avenue and follow posted signs. MST lists the reroute from October 5 until further notice and tentatively expects the upgraded coastal-trail section to reopen October 23.
