The National Weather Service's 2:14 a.m. Saturday marine message extended the Small Craft Advisory for nearshore waters from Point Pinos to Point Piedras Blancas through 9 p.m. Sunday, August 30. That local advisory has now expired.
At 8:49 p.m. Sunday, NWS issued its latest Bay Area marine advisory list. It contains advisories for waters north of Point Reyes but no longer lists Point Pinos, Monterey Bay or the adjoining Pigeon Point-to-Point Pinos zones. The Point Pinos notice therefore has been removed from the active Coast and Public Safety desks.
The expired advisory was directed to mariners rather than beach visitors. It did not state a beach, harbor or shoreline closure. Readers should check the linked NWS list for any newly issued marine hazard before going out.
This report retains the advisory's original August 26, 2:30 p.m. issue time and permanent address. Its expiration update does not restart the 88-hour live/archive clock.
