Public Safety / Travel: The Plaskett Fire remains 15,479 acres, 1% contained, with its latest official update still 6:51 p.m.; the Timber Fire remains 24,970 acres, 21% contained, last updated 6:28 p.m. CAL FIRE still lists active evacuation orders and warnings for the affected Big Sur zones. Caltrans’ Highway 1 report refreshed at 9:43 p.m. but the material conditions are unchanged: SR 1 remains closed between 11.7 miles north of Ragged Point and 9.5 miles north of Big Sur, with one-way controlled traffic at Rocky Creek Bridge through 6:00 a.m. Aug. 31.
Coast: NWS issued a refreshed Monterey Bay marine forecast at 8:50 p.m. calling for winds and rough seas to ease overnight; seas remain about 3–4 feet with patchy fog and possible drizzle. No new coastal warning or PG-specific hazard was issued.
City Hall / Schools / Business: I did not locate a newly posted Sept. 2 Pacific Grove City Council agenda packet, a new PGUSD notice, or another official business/services development clearing the strict PG-impact threshold. The Sept. 2 council meeting itself remains confirmed on the city’s adopted schedule.
Editor decision: Keep the existing fire/Highway 1 coverage live, continue the Sept. 2 City Council agenda-packet watch, and recheck for overnight fire acreage, containment, evacuation, road-closure, or smoke-impact changes. Plaskett Fire — CAL FIRE Timber Fire — CAL FIRE Caltrans SR 1 conditions
